An Enterprise Software environment is defined as an environment to satisfy the needs of an organization with multiple users sharing a common Data Source rather than individual users.

Setting up an enterprise environment is not a difficult task, however, it there are some installation options that need consideration.

Installation Location

Distributed File System (DFS) and Domain Name System (DNS) information is beyond the scope of this document. It is assumed that your network administrator knows how to setup shared folders and your users have access to these folders using the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) or directly through a mapped drive letter.

The network administrator will need to first setup a shared folder location which will be the location used during the DSF installation.

\\Server\Volume\Folder

Similar to: \\DS01\Programs\DSF

DSF administrators will need Full Access file permissions to this area to perform the product installation and to later install updates. Enter this location when prompted by the install package.

It's best to also create 3 subfolders now.

\\DS01\Programs\DSF\Config
\\DS01\Programs\DSF\Logs
\\DS01\Programs\DSF\Data

Regular users will need read/write permissions to the sub-folders.

By default the internal DSF database files will be created in the Data sub-folder. If the network administrator requires the DSF data files to be in a different location it can be changed with a manual entry in the config.file located in the Config sub-folder.

DataSourcePath = \\DS02\DataStorage\NewDataArea

If needed, make this change after product installation but before first login.

When running the setup program, you will be prompted for the location to install the program files. Enter the location of the previously prepared network share folder you created above.

Installing and setting up a multi-user DSF system should be a simple process. The program files need to be installed on a network share folder and the administrator needs to enable the security option. To access the data the user needs a valid activation code and must be a member in the targeted Data Source.
