Message logs are used to track actions performed by the system and any messages generated by logged processes. Each log type is generated for a different purpose. Log entries do not necessarily indicate a problem with the system however logs entries with a type of ERROR should be reported to Data Selections for review.


The Log Manager can be accessed from the Quick Access menu found on the top left of the main screen.

Log Files

Log entries are stored in separate weekly files.

Select from the list which log file to view.


    Example: 2019-17 thru 2019-06-23.log


Options Settings

These options control the Log Viewer entries.


 

Options

These options will determine the type of log entries posted to the Log Viewer.

 

Information

General information on running system events.

 

Warnings

Warnings that will not hinder operation but should be noted.

 

Errors

Errors are bad and should be reported to Data Selections.

 

Debug

This option will generate an enormous amount of detailed log entries and should only be turned on if asked to do so by the Data Selections staff.


Timers

Used internally to track timing of process. Should only be turned on if asked to do so by the Data Selections staff.


Logs Location

Path location to store Log files. Enterprise installations should redirect this to a network share folder.

Logs can sometimes help track down issues in the system however, they should be reviewed and cleared on a periodic basis.


Weeks of Retention

Logs older than this setting will automatically be purged.
