Crystal Report Discovery can be access from the Discover section of the main menu on the Data Discovery tab:
All visualization/reporting tools require some form of data source to retrieve the data elements that they use from your database. This data source is normally an SQL Query that was built by the report designer.
Crystal Reports is no different. Some versions of Crystal Reports create files with an RPT file extensions. DSF can attempt to extract the SQL Query from the file and use it for discovery.
Many companies have created a library of reports either with Crystal Reports or some other reporting tool. These tools can sometimes allow the user to enter the SQL Query used to access the database as the data source.
Browse and find the Crystal Report RPT file. DSF will attempt to extract the SQL Query and discover your data. Every RPT file processed will create a new Entity in the system. A good practice is to name the Entity according to the business purpose of the report. DSF cannot process all RPT files.
If you are using a tool other than Crystal Reports, find the SQL Query used in that product as the data source for the report and paste it into the discovery process using the SQL Query Discovery option.
