Read access to your physical database is the only permission required to utilize the benefits of DSF.
The minimum requirement for a Viewer User is READ access to the physical database. They MUST have the ability to SELECT data.
The Discovery process requires the user to have VIEW DEFINITION permissions of the physical database. They MUST have the ability to read the structure of the database View and Table objects.
No special permissions are needed to publish a view to the DSF database, however, if publishing to your physical database then the publishing user will require CREATE VIEW permissions.
When a DSF user does not have the permissions to perform a specific action, they will be prompted to enter elevated credentials for that action only.
