When fields are discovered DSF creates a database that is completely separate from your actual physical database.

Snapshots are simply backups of the DSF database.

Snapshots are managed from the Snapshot Manager.

Snapshots can be taken automatically during specific events throughout the system. These setting can be changed on the Snapshot Options screen.

Manual Snapshots

A user can take a Snapshot at anytime.

This option can be used to save your work before any changes are made. Thus, allowing you to revert back to a previous state.

Consider Snapshots as a safety net.

Restore

A Snapshot restore is usually only done if something goes wrong.

Purging Old Snapshots

There is no need to worry about Snapshots using up all of your disk space. They are very small in size and have a built-in data retention policy that will delete old or excessive Snapshot files automatically. The retention policy can be changed on the Snapshot Options screen.
